Tomás writes city guides that people read in the city — on hostel Wi-Fi, airport roaming, and one bar of Andean signal. His photography-dense guides looked spectacular from his desk and were unreachable from the places they described.

Travel blogs have the most globally scattered readership on the internet and often the most centralised hosting: a server in Frankfurt serving a Bangkok guide to a reader in Bangkok, the long way round.

Edge-cached and image-converted, the guides now load from a CDN node near the reader at a third of the weight. The Lisbon guide is finally fast in Lisbon — which is the only place it matters.
