The story
Sam runs a two-truck plumbing outfit. Most of his best customers find him the same way: standing in a flooding kitchen at 2am, typing “emergency plumber near me” with wet hands. Whoever’s site loads first and shows a phone number gets the job.
Sam’s site was built with a page builder by his nephew — it looks great, but it shipped every widget the builder owns, and on a phone on one bar of signal it took eight seconds to show anything. Eight seconds is three competitors.
The fix wasn’t a redesign. Cached as static HTML, stripped of unused CSS, phone number in the first paint — the same site now answers before the panic does.
