Connecting to xSpeed Hub

xSpeed Hub is the free hosted companion to xSpeed Cache. Connect every WordPress site you run to one account, and you get a fleet dashboard, daily monitoring, and — the headline — a single MCP connection your AI assistant can use to reach all of them.

What this does

Without the Hub, each site is its own MCP server and each one needs its own connection in your AI client. That is fine for one or two sites; it does not scale to twenty.

The Hub sits above your sites. Each site running xSpeed Cache attaches to your xspeedcache.com account, and the Hub proxies AI tool calls to each site’s own MCP endpoint. Your AI client holds one credential; the Hub decides which site each call reaches.

You also get things a single plugin cannot offer: a fleet overview ranking every site worst-first, daily monitoring snapshots with Slack and email alerts, per-site speed-report history, teams with roles, and scoped credentials.

Requirements

  • A free account at app.xspeedcache.com.
  • xSpeed Cache 1.1.0 or later active on each site you want to attach.
  • You must be an administrator on the WordPress site to attach it.

How to connect a site

The easy path starts in the plugin:

  1. Open the xSpeed Cache dashboard on your site and click Connect Hub in the top bar (or open the xSpeed Hub tab in the MCP Server panel under AI & agents).
  2. Click Connect via xspeedcache.com. You are sent to the Hub, carrying your admin email so account creation is one click for new users.
  3. Sign in (Google or an emailed magic link) and approve the attachment.
  4. You land back on your site with the connection confirmed. The site now appears in your Hub dashboard.

There is no token to copy anywhere in this flow — the sites exchange credentials behind the approval click.

The setup wizard also offers a Connect your free account step right after install, so new sites can join your fleet from day one. It is skippable; caching works fully without an account.

How to connect your AI client

Once at least one site is attached:

  1. In the Hub, open Connect and mint a connection.
  2. Choose its scope — full access is the default, or restrict it (read-only, specific sites, denied tools). See Scoped AI Connections in xSpeed Hub.
  3. Paste the connection config into Claude, ChatGPT, or any MCP-compatible client.

Your assistant can now say things like “purge the cache on the blog” or “which of my sites has the worst hit ratio?” — site-scoped tools take a site argument, and when your account has one site it is the default.

Detaching a site

Disconnect from either side: remove the site in the Hub, or disconnect from the plugin’s xSpeed Hub tab. Either way, the Hub’s credential for that site stops working immediately. Caching on the site itself is unaffected.

FAQ

Does the Hub cache anything itself? No. It brokers control — your pages are still cached and served by your own sites.

Is it really free? Yes, the Hub account is free. You pay nothing extra to attach sites or connect an AI client.

What if my AI client is already connected directly to a site? Both work at once. The direct connection reaches that one site; the Hub connection reaches the fleet.
