# Cloudflare Enterprise, xSpeed Cache

**With Cloudflare Enterprise, Your Site Is Closer to Every Visitor.**

> Cloudflare Enterprise copies your pages to locations around the world and serves each visitor from the nearest one.

## Without and with Cloudflare Enterprise

The page opens on an animated globe that loops between two scenarios:

- **Without Cloudflare Enterprise: every request crosses the world.** Visitors in São Paulo or Singapore wait for your server in London on every page. Median TTFB: 415ms (no CDN · study median).
- **With Cloudflare Enterprise: served from nearby.** London sends your pages to Cloudflare locations; each visitor gets the cached page from a Cloudflare location close to them. Median TTFB: 117.5ms (edge serves the page · study median).
- **Your server stays where it is.** Same host, same nameservers. Only your website’s DNS record changes.

## Three things change

Faster pages, a safer site and a quieter server.

- **Faster for everyone, everywhere.** The whole page is cached at the edge, so the visitor's request ends near them instead of at your server. Median TTFB in our study: 415ms → 117.5ms.
- **A firewall in front of WordPress.** Cloudflare's managed rules, rate limiting and bot checks stop bad traffic before it reaches your site. 6 switches: firewall, rate limits, bot checks and more.
- **A calmer server.** Cached pages never reach WordPress. Your server only answers what the edge can't: carts, checkouts and logged-in visits. Tiered Cache: edge locations ask each other first.

## Real results

What happens when the edge serves the page. We probed 1,748 WordPress sites and compared the ones whose edge answers with the ones that have no CDN.

| Measure | No CDN | Edge serves the page |
|---|---|---|
| Median time to first byte | 415ms (1,163 sites) | 117.5ms (226 sites), 3.5× faster |
| Pages answered in under 200ms | 36.4% | 84.5% |
| Delivery score (xSpeed Scan, out of 100) | 67 | 92 |
| Phones waiting over 2.5s for LCP | 70.4% | 41.7% |

From the xSpeed Scan study of 1,748 WordPress sites, 30 Aug – 28 Sep 2026. It compares sites whose edge serves cached pages with sites that have no CDN. Real-user LCP comes from Chrome UX Report data for 125, 56 and 48 sites. Study: https://xspeedcache.com/blog/wordpress-cdn-adoption-ttfb-study/

## Setup: live in about an hour

No migration and no Cloudflare account. The plugin walks you through it and checks every record.

1. **Start setup** (a minute). In xSpeed Cache → Network → Cloudflare Enterprise, press Start setup. It first checks your domain resolves, isn’t already behind Cloudflare and loads over HTTPS. Edge page caching is on by default.
2. **Verify your domain** (about 15 minutes). Add a TXT record and a CNAME record at your DNS provider. The plugin checks them for you and moves on by itself. Keep both afterwards: your SSL certificate renews through them.
3. **Connect your site** (up to an hour for DNS). Point your website's record at Cloudflare, with a CNAME or A records. The plugin shows the exact values.
4. **You’re all set** (done). Cloudflare Enterprise active, SSL ready, site connected. Every switch now lives in xSpeed Cache.

## Everything included: 21 things, on every domain

"Always on" marks what xCloud applies to every domain, with no switch in the plugin.

- **Whole pages cached at the edge.** Cloudflare keeps the full page, not just images and scripts, and serves it from a location near the visitor.
- **Cleared when you publish.** Updating a post clears those pages on Cloudflare as well as on your server. Purge All clears both.
- **Follows your Page Cache rules.** Cloudflare keeps a page as long as your Page Cache expiry says, and never stores a page you exclude.
- **Tiered Cache** (always on). Cloudflare locations ask each other before your server, so fewer requests reach WordPress.
- **HTTP/3** (always on). Newer connections that set up quicker.
- **Brotli and Early Hints.** Smaller transfers (Brotli, always on), and with Early Hints switched on the browser starts fetching CSS while the page is still on its way.
- **Image optimization.** Off, lossless or lossy, done by Cloudflare at the edge.
- **Always Online** (always on). If your server goes down, visitors can still see a saved copy of your pages.
- **Managed firewall (WAF).** Cloudflare's managed rules block known attacks before they reach WordPress.
- **Rate limiting.** Limits any address that sends more than 200 requests a minute.
- **AI crawler blocking.** One switch keeps AI scrapers off your content.
- **Browser integrity check.** Turns away requests from known bad bots.
- **Under attack mode.** A check page for every visitor, for the hours you are under attack.
- **Scrape shield.** Hides email addresses from harvesters.
- **SSL included.** Cloudflare issues and renews the certificate. Pick Modern, Compatible or Legacy ciphers.
- **Run from WordPress.** Set up, purge and change every switch from xSpeed Cache. No Cloudflare account, no second login.
- **WP-CLI.** `wp xspeed cfe` status, enable, purge, verify and more.
- **AI agents.** Your agent can purge on its own. Enabling, removing or re-pointing a domain stays with you.
- **Multisite.** The main site sets it up; subdomain and mapped sites each count as a domain.
- **Safe for stores.** Cart, checkout, account and logged-in pages are never stored at Cloudflare.
- **See it working.** The Domain tab checks your home page and tells you when it is served from Cloudflare.

## FAQ: before you switch it on

**Do I need a Cloudflare account?**
No. The add-on covers the Cloudflare side. There is nothing to sign up for and no Cloudflare bill.

**Do I have to move my nameservers?**
No. Your DNS stays where it is. You add two records there, then point your website record at Cloudflare. The plugin shows the exact values and checks each one.

**Will my cart and checkout still work?**
Yes. Pages xSpeed Cache never caches, like cart, checkout, account and logged-in pages, are never stored at Cloudflare either.

**What happens when I publish a post?**
The changed pages are cleared on Cloudflare as well as on your server. Purge All clears both.

**How long does setup take?**
About 15 minutes of work, plus up to an hour for DNS to update. You can leave the page; setup carries on and picks up at the right step.

**What do I need?**
xSpeed Cache Pro on any paid plan, Yearly or Lifetime, plus the add-on at $5 per domain, per month. It has its own license key. There is no second plugin.

**My domain already uses Cloudflare. Can I still use it?**
Yes, if its records are set to DNS only and Universal SSL is off for the domain. The setup checks the DNS-only part before it starts; if Universal SSL is still on, it tells you during verification.
