Updated September 2026

WP Rocket's Multi licence covers 50 websites for $299.95 a year, and the tier directly below it covers three, both verified on the WP Rocket [pricing page](https://wp-rocket.me/pricing/) on 22 September 2026. FlyingPress sells a 25-site licence for $229 a year, per its own [pricing page](https://flyingpress.com/pricing/) the same day. The comparison people expect is WP Rocket against the field on features. The more useful comparison is what a licence costs at the site counts people actually run, because the published ladders disagree about which numbers exist. This article prices one, five and twenty-five sites across seven paid products, adds the configuration time nobody bills for, and says which figures expire.

## Quick Summary: What Each Situation Costs

| If you want… | Do this | Why |
|:---|:---|:---|
| One site, pay once, never renew | WP Fastest Cache Premium, $49 one-time | Cheapest permanent licence in the field on 22 September 2026 |
| One site, most automated setup | WP Rocket Single, $59.95/yr | The vendor's own claim is that 80% of best practices apply without touching code |
| Five sites, exact fit | WP-Optimize Premium Business, $99/yr | Covers up to five sites at $99 a year with nothing idle |
| Five sites on WP Rocket | Budget $299.95/yr | The published ladder has no tier between three and fifty |
| Twenty-five sites, cheapest recurring page cache | WP-Optimize Premium Enterprise, $194/yr unlimited | Lowest annual licence that covers 25 and page-caches on any host |
| Twenty-five sites, try before paying | FlyingPress Business, $229/yr | The only product priced here with a 14-day free trial rather than a refund window |
| Twenty-five sites, no renewal ever | xSpeed Cache Agency lifetime, $249 at launch pricing | The only one-payment licence published for 25 sites in a single package |
| To pay nothing at all | Nine free page caches, including four with no paid tier | Most single sites never need a licence |

Prices verified against each vendor's own page on 22 September 2026. Every one of them can change without notice, and the WP Rocket discount quoted below carries a page timestamp of 15 September 2026 with an advertised end date of 23 September.

## The Ladder Is the Product, and Nobody Publishes It Side by Side

A caching plugin's price list is a ladder of site counts. You do not buy the number of sites you own. You buy the nearest rung above it, and the distance between rungs decides what you overpay.

Laid out together, the rungs are strikingly inconsistent. WP Rocket sells 1, 3, 50, 100 and 500. FlyingPress sells 1, 3, 25 and unlimited. [W3 Total Cache Pro](https://www.boldgrid.com/w3-total-cache/) sells 1, 5 and 10, then asks you to contact sales for anything larger. [Perfmatters](https://perfmatters.io/pricing/) sells 1, 3 and unlimited. [WP-Optimize Premium](https://teamupdraft.com/wp-optimize/pricing/) sells up to 2, up to 5, and unlimited. [WP Fastest Cache Premium](https://www.wpfastestcache.com/) sells 1, 3, 5 and 10 as a one-time fee.

The ladders differ because they encode different guesses about who buys. A vendor that expects hosting companies and large agencies puts its upper rungs in the hundreds and treats everything below as a starter tier. A vendor that expects freelancers puts a rung at five. Neither guess is wrong, and neither is published as a guess: it arrives as a price list, which reads like a measurement of what you need. It is not. It is a measurement of who the vendor was built for, and the moment your site count falls in a gap you pay for the mismatch rather than for the software.

![The published site-count rungs for seven WordPress performance plugins, showing where each vendor's ladder stops](https://xspeedcache.com/images/blog/wp-rocket-pricing-ladder.webp)

| Product | Published tiers (sites) | Billing | Verified |
|:---|:---|:---:|:---:|
| WP Rocket | 1 · 3 · 50 · 100 · 500 | Annual | 22 Sep 2026 |
| FlyingPress | 1 · 3 · 25 · unlimited | Annual | 22 Sep 2026 |
| Perfmatters | 1 · 3 · unlimited | Annual | 22 Sep 2026 |
| W3 Total Cache Pro | 1 · 5 · 10 · bulk on request | Annual | 22 Sep 2026 |
| WP-Optimize Premium | 2 · 5 · unlimited | Annual | 22 Sep 2026 |
| WP Fastest Cache Premium | 1 · 3 · 5 · 10 | One-time | 22 Sep 2026 |
| xSpeed Cache Pro | 1 · 5 · 25 · unlimited | Annual or lifetime | 22 Sep 2026 |

Read down the second column and the pattern is obvious. Four of the seven have a rung at five sites. Three stop at three: two of them jump to a numbered tier at least eight times larger, and the third goes straight to unlimited.

## The Gap Between Three Sites and Fifty

WP Rocket's Plus licence covers three websites for $119.95 a year. The next rung is Multi, at $299.95 a year for fifty. There is nothing in between, which is verifiable in ten seconds on the pricing page itself: the Multi block carries a radio selector offering 50, 100 and 500 websites, and the tier above Plus starts at 50.

So a person who owns five WordPress sites, which is an ordinary number for a freelancer with a portfolio and two client retainers, pays the fifty-site price. That is $299.95 a year for five activations, and forty-five licences sitting idle.

The page does publish an escape route. Its FAQ states that you can upgrade a licence at any time and "you'll just pay the difference in cost", so the three-site buyer who grows to five is not asked to repurchase. The difference, though, is still the difference between $119.95 and $299.95.

### Where the same ladder is generous

None of this makes WP Rocket expensive at the counts it was designed for. At one site it is $59.95 a year against $99 for W3 Total Cache Pro, and at fifty sites the same $299.95 works out at $6.00 per site per year, which is cheaper per site than any page-caching row in the twenty-five-site ledger below. The ladder is punishing in one specific band, between four and roughly twenty-five sites, and generous on either side of it. Knowing which band you are in is worth more than any feature comparison, and it takes one look at the pricing page.

![Sites paid for against sites actually used at a five-site portfolio, across seven products](https://xspeedcache.com/images/blog/wp-rocket-pricing-idle-licences.webp)

| At five sites | Cheapest covering package | Sites paid for | Idle licences |
|:---|:---|:---:|:---:|
| WP Rocket | Multi, $299.95/yr | 50 | 45 |
| FlyingPress | Business, $229/yr | 25 | 20 |
| Perfmatters | Unlimited, $124.95/yr | Unlimited | — |
| W3 Total Cache Pro | 5 Site Licenses, $350/yr | 5 | 0 |
| WP-Optimize Premium | Business, $99/yr | 5 | 0 |
| WP Fastest Cache Premium | Gold, $175 one-time | 5 | 0 |
| xSpeed Cache Pro | Business, $49/yr at launch pricing | 5 | 0 |

Two things in that table deserve saying plainly. W3 Total Cache Pro charges $350 a year for the same five activations that WP-Optimize Premium sells for $99, according to each vendor's own pricing page on 22 September 2026. And the 5-site and 10-site W3 Total Cache packages include a Plugin Configuration service the same page values at $125 and $250 respectively, which is the only figure any vendor in this field publishes for the labour of setting one of these plugins up. Hold on to that number. It reappears later and it changes the shape of the whole calculation.

## What Annual Billing Costs After the First Year

Every price above is a first-year price, and three of them are not even that.

On the day this was written, the WP Rocket pricing page was running a 25% discount with a countdown timer reading "the offer is only valid until September 23, 2026". Single was $44.96 against a struck-through $59.95, Plus $89.96 against $119.95, and Multi $224.96 against $299.95. The Multi 100 and Multi 500 options carried $299.96 and $449.96 against $399.95 and $599.95. Perfmatters was running a banner offering an extra 10% with a code. One more product in the table below is running launch pricing at half its list price, and it is ours, disclosed in full further down this page.

A table of promotional prices is worthless within a week. A table of renewal prices is the one that tells you what the plugin costs to keep, and renewal terms are published unevenly:

| Product | Renewal terms as published | Source |
|:---|:---|:---:|
| WP Rocket | Automatic renewal after one year, cancellable in the account Billing section. No renewal discount published | Pricing FAQ, 22 Sep 2026 |
| Perfmatters | Automatic renewal with a 15% discount applied to all renewals | Pricing FAQ, 22 Sep 2026 |
| FlyingPress | 14-day free trial, card charged when the trial ends | Pricing page, 22 Sep 2026 |
| W3 Total Cache Pro | Annual licence, 30-day money-back guarantee. No renewal discount published | Pricing page, 22 Sep 2026 |
| WP-Optimize Premium | Annual licence per site band | Pricing page, 22 Sep 2026 |
| WP Fastest Cache Premium | No renewal. One-time fee with unlimited support and updates | Pricing page, 22 Sep 2026 |
| xSpeed Cache Pro | Annual, or a lifetime licence with no renewal | Pricing page, 22 Sep 2026 |

Applying Perfmatters' published 15% to its published $29.95 gives $25.46 from year two onward. WP Rocket publishes no equivalent, so the honest assumption is that a Single licence returns to $59.95 once the September promotion ends. Neither figure is a criticism. They are the difference between a first-year comparison and a five-year one, and buyers are usually shown the first.

There is a practical rule hiding in that table. Where a vendor publishes a renewal discount, use it, because it is a commitment printed on a public page. Where a vendor publishes nothing, price the renewal at list and be pleasantly surprised rather than budgeting on a promotion that was advertised with a countdown clock. Applied across three years and twenty-five sites, the difference between those two habits is larger than the gap between most of the products compared here.

## The Three-Year Per-Site Ledger

Here is the framework this article exists for, and it takes about five minutes with a calculator.

**Step 1. Count your sites.** Not the ones you plan to launch. The ones that will still exist in three years.

**Step 2. Find the cheapest published package that covers that number.** Not the tier named after your size. The cheapest one that covers it, which is often two rungs up.

**Step 3. Multiply by three.** One-time licences stay at their purchase price. Annual licences bill three times, at renewal price rather than promotional price.

**Step 4. Add configuration at a published rate.** W3 Total Cache's pricing page values one Plugin Configuration at $125. That is a vendor's own number for setting up one site, and it is the only one published in this field.

**Step 5. Divide by sites, then by three.** The result is cost per site per year, and it is the only number that compares a $49 one-time licence with a $299.95 annual one.

Run it at twenty-five sites, on list prices, excluding tax:

| Product | Cheapest covering package | Licence cost over 3 years | Per site-year |
|:---|:---|:---:|:---:|
| W3 Total Cache Pro | 3 × 10-site, $1,500/yr | $4,500.00 | $60.00 |
| WP Rocket | Multi 50, $299.95/yr | $899.85 | $12.00 |
| WP Fastest Cache Premium | 2 × Platinum + 1 × Gold, one-time | $775.00 | $10.33 |
| FlyingPress | Business 25, $229/yr | $687.00 | $9.16 |
| xSpeed Cache Pro, annual | Agency 25, $198/yr list | $594.00 | $7.92 |
| WP-Optimize Premium | Enterprise unlimited, $194/yr | $582.00 | $7.76 |
| xSpeed Cache Pro, lifetime | Agency 25, $498 list | $498.00 | $6.64 |
| Perfmatters | Unlimited, $124.95/yr | $374.85 | $5.00 |

Two footnotes travel with that table and neither is optional. Perfmatters does not page-cache at all, which we established by reading its own documentation in [our comparison of Perfmatters against a caching plugin](https://xspeedcache.com/blog/perfmatters-vs-caching-plugin/), so its $5.00 buys a script manager rather than a cache. And the WP Fastest Cache figure is derived arithmetic rather than a published package: two Platinum licences and one Gold cover exactly twenty-five, and the vendor publishes no 25-site bundle.

### What this ledger cannot tell you

State the limits out loud, because a cost model that hides them is marketing.

- **Configuration time is an assumption, not a measurement.** The $125 anchor is one vendor's list price for a service, not an observed average across buyers.
- **Buckets are not counts.** The wordpress.org Plugin API returns active installs in buckets, so four plugins reporting "1,000,000+" could differ by a factor of two. Never compute a percentage from them.
- **Traffic is a separate axis entirely.** Metered products like NitroPack price on pageviews rather than sites, which we modelled separately in [our piece on NitroPack alternatives](https://xspeedcache.com/blog/nitropack-alternatives/). A per-site ledger says nothing about them.
- **Promotional prices expire and list prices move.** This table uses list prices for that reason, and it will still need re-checking.
- **Support quality carries no price.** Every product here includes support in the licence, and none of them publishes a response-time commitment you could put in a cell.

## The One-Time Licences, and What They Give Up

Two products in this field break the annual model, and they break it differently. One sells nothing else. The other sells a one-payment licence alongside an annual one.

WP Fastest Cache Premium is sold as a one-time fee: Bronze $49 for one licence, Silver $125 for three, Gold $175 for five, Platinum $300 for ten. The pricing page lists unlimited support and updates, 10,000 image credits per licence, a one-year licence transfer right and a 30-day money-back guarantee. There is no renewal invoice, ever.

xSpeed Cache Pro, which is ours, sells both. The annual tiers run $58, $98, $198 and $398 for 1, 5, 25 and unlimited sites, and the lifetime tiers run $158, $298, $498 and $798 for the same counts. A founding-customer offer currently halves both, so today those read $29, $49, $99 and $199 a year, or $79, $149, $249 and $399 once. WPDeveloper builds xSpeed Cache, and WPDeveloper is a Startise company, so treat every figure in this paragraph as a vendor quoting itself and check it on [our own pricing page](https://xspeedcache.com/pricing/).

### Where we lose, and by how much

At one site, WP Fastest Cache wins that argument outright. Its $49 one-time licence is cheaper than our $79 lifetime launch price and less than a third of our $158 list price, and [it has](https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-fastest-cache/) 1,000,000+ active installs against [our](https://wordpress.org/plugins/xspeed/) 6,000+, per the wordpress.org Plugin API queried on 22 September 2026. If a single site is the whole problem and you want to pay once, that is the cheaper permanent answer and we would rather say so here than have you find it elsewhere.

### What a one-time licence does and does not buy

The trade is scope. WP Fastest Cache's own feature comparison lists page caching, minification, combination, GZIP, browser caching, image optimisation and WebP conversion. That list does not include object caching, and our comparison of [80 capabilities across 19 areas](https://xspeedcache.com/comparison/) records which tier each competing plugin ships each capability in rather than whether it exists at all.

## Configuration Is the Larger Line, and No Comparison Prices It

Take the ledger's fourth step seriously and the table above inverts.

Twenty-five sites configured at W3 Total Cache's own published $125 per configuration is $3,125, one-off. Spread across three years and twenty-five sites, that is $41.67 per site-year. Compare it with the licence column: $12.00 for WP Rocket, $9.16 for FlyingPress, $7.76 for WP-Optimize Premium. On the only configuration rate any vendor in this field publishes, setup runs between 3.5 and 5.4 times the licence for every product in that column except W3 Total Cache Pro.

![Cost per site per year at twenty-five sites, licence against configuration priced at $125 per site](https://xspeedcache.com/images/blog/wp-rocket-pricing-licence-vs-setup.webp)

Price it more conservatively and the conclusion holds. Budget forty-five to ninety minutes per site at $30 to $50 an hour and twenty-five sites cost $562.50 to $1,875 to set up, or $7.50 to $25.00 per site-year. That band still overlaps or exceeds every annual licence in the table except W3 Total Cache Pro's.

### Why the marketing talks about minutes rather than features

This is why vendors advertise setup effort rather than settings counts. WP Rocket's pricing page leads with "80% of web-performance best practices are automatically applied, no need to touch the code". FlyingPress advertises "Fewer Settings to Configure" and "Setup in minutes". Those are claims about the largest line in your bill, and they are worth more scrutiny than the number next to the currency symbol.

## Pricing Twenty-Five Client Sites Without Paying for Fifty

At an agency site count the licence stops being the interesting number and the repeated work starts.

Three published facts change agency arithmetic more than any price. WP Rocket's FAQ permits the Multi licence on customers' websites but excludes hosting providers, who are directed to a reseller programme. WP Fastest Cache publishes a one-year licence transfer right, which matters when a client leaves. And W3 Total Cache bundles its configuration service into the larger packages, which is the same admission this article has been making: the setup is the cost.

xSpeed Cache Pro sits in this part of the table as one option among several. The Agency tier covers twenty-five sites at $198 a year list, or $498 once for the lifetime licence, and [xSpeed Hub](https://xspeedcache.com/xspeed-hub/) drives a fleet from one connection rather than one dashboard per site. We built it because the repeated work is the expensive part, and it is ours, from the WPDeveloper team inside Startise. Two weaknesses at this site count are worth stating before you price us against anything:

- **Age.** 6,000+ active installs against [LiteSpeed Cache's](https://wordpress.org/plugins/litespeed-cache/) 7,000,000+ on the same day's Plugin API query, and too short a history to appear in the field datasets that rank the older names.
- **Surface.** Our [free-vs-pro page](https://xspeedcache.com/free-vs-pro/) enumerates 157 features across ten areas, 100 of them in the free plugin. That is a great deal to configure if what you wanted was the plugin that ships with fewer decisions.

Run the free xSpeed Scan on one of those sites before you buy anything: [xspeedcache.com/scan/](https://xspeedcache.com/scan/).

### Where to read next, by what you are about to do

If the sites you are pricing sit on different hosts, read [our comparison of WP Rocket and LiteSpeed Cache](https://xspeedcache.com/blog/wp-rocket-vs-litespeed-cache/) first, because on a LiteSpeed server a free plugin does the page caching that every product priced here charges for. Agencies pricing a migration rather than a purchase will find the mechanics in [migrating from WP Rocket](https://xspeedcache.com/blog/migrate-from-wp-rocket/) and in the [migration documentation](https://xspeedcache.com/docs/migration/), and the site-count arithmetic above applies unchanged to [agencies and freelancers](https://xspeedcache.com/use-cases/agencies/). If you want this field ranked on something other than price, [nine WP Rocket alternatives ranked on Core Web Vitals field data](https://xspeedcache.com/blog/wp-rocket-alternatives-2026/) is the companion piece, and it puts us ninth.

## Common Mistakes Buyers Make When Pricing a Caching Plugin

- **Comparing promotional prices against list prices.** A 25% seasonal discount on one product and a full list price on another is a comparison of calendars.
- **Pricing the tier named after your size.** Tier names are marketing. The rung that covers your site count is the only one that matters, and it is frequently two rungs up.
- **Treating a one-time fee as equivalent to an annual one.** A $300 one-time licence and a $99 annual licence cross over in the fourth year. Pick a window and apply it to everything.
- **Forgetting that the free tier may be enough.** Nine plugins page-cache for nothing on a standard PHP host, and four have no paid tier at all, which we verified from their own readmes on 9 September 2026 in [our survey of free WordPress caching plugins](https://xspeedcache.com/blog/free-wordpress-caching-plugins/).
- **Leaving setup out of the model.** It is the larger of the two numbers at every site count above one, on every published rate we could find.
- **Assuming a directory listing exists.** WP Rocket, Perfmatters and FlyingPress all return "Plugin not found" from the wordpress.org Plugin API, re-confirmed on 22 September 2026. There is no install count, no rating and no review history to read for any of the three.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### I bought WP Rocket Single and now I have three sites. What do I pay?

The published route is an upgrade rather than a second purchase. WP Rocket's FAQ states that you can add more sites to your account at any time and pay the difference in cost, so moving from Single to Plus costs the gap between $59.95 and $119.95 rather than a fresh $119.95.

### I have five sites and the checkout offered me a fifty-site licence. Did I read that right?

Yes. Verified on 22 September 2026, WP Rocket's ladder runs 1, 3, 50, 100, 500. Five sites falls above Plus, so the cheapest covering package is Multi at $299.95 a year with forty-five activations you will not use.

### I paid once for WP Fastest Cache Premium last year and it still updates. Is that expected?

It is. The pricing page sells Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum as a one-time fee with unlimited support and updates, plus a 30-day money-back guarantee and a one-year licence transfer right. There is no renewal invoice by design.

### I renewed an annual licence and the price went up. What happened?

Most likely the first year was discounted and the renewal was not. Of the products priced here, only Perfmatters publishes a standing renewal discount, at 15% applied automatically, which works out at $25.46 on its $29.95 single-site tier. Check the vendor's billing FAQ before assuming a renewal matches the sticker you paid.

### I bought a script manager expecting my server response time to improve and nothing moved. Why?

Because a script manager does not cache pages. Perfmatters controls what WordPress outputs and a page cache decides whether PHP runs at all, which is the distinction we drew in detail when we compared the two categories. Pricing them in the same table without that footnote is the error.

### Is the lifetime licence genuinely cheaper?

It depends on the window you pick. A lifetime licence at roughly two and a half times an annual one pays for itself in year three and costs nothing after that. Over an eighteen-month project it is the more expensive choice. Decide the window first, then price it.

### What is the cheapest way to cache twenty-five sites properly?

On list prices verified on 22 September 2026, the lowest annual licence that page-caches on any host and covers twenty-five sites is WP-Optimize Premium Enterprise at $194 a year for unlimited sites. FlyingPress Business at $229 and our own Agency tier at $198 list are the two annual tiers sized at exactly twenty-five, and FlyingPress is the only product here you can trial before paying. If you would rather not renew at all, two products sell a single payment: WP Fastest Cache by stacking packages, and xSpeed Cache Agency at $498 once at list price, which is the only one-payment licence published for twenty-five sites in a single package.

### Do I need to pay for a caching plugin at all?

Frequently not. Nine free plugins page-cache on a standard PHP host and four of them sell no paid tier whatsoever. Paying buys automation, support and the optimisation features around the cache rather than caching itself.

### Can I move a licence between sites?

Only where the vendor publishes the rule. WP Fastest Cache states a one-year licence transfer right on its pricing page. WP Rocket publishes upgrades that pay the difference. Where nothing is published, assume nothing and ask support before you buy.

### How should I price my own configuration time?

Use a rate you would charge a client, not zero. If you want an external anchor, W3 Total Cache's pricing page values a single Plugin Configuration at $125, which is the only published figure of its kind in this field.

### Which numbers in this article will expire first?

The promotional ones. WP Rocket's 25% discount was advertised as ending 23 September 2026, Perfmatters was running a code-based offer, and our own launch pricing is time-limited. List prices, ladder shapes and billing models move more slowly, which is why the ledger above uses them.

### Where does xSpeed Cache sit in this comparison?

As one option among several. Our Agency tier is priced at twenty-five sites, we and WP Fastest Cache are the two products here that sell a one-payment licence, and we have 6,000+ active installs against competitors with more than a thousand times that. Three of the products here beat us on list price at one site, and one beats us on annual list price at twenty-five.

## Conclusion: Pick the Rung, Then Price the Setup

The feature grids for these products are more alike than their price ladders are. Every paid plugin here caches pages, minifies assets and defers JavaScript. What separates them at purchase time is which site counts they sell, what the second year costs, and how much of your week the setup takes.

Notice what is missing from that sentence. Speed is missing, because at this level of the market the published feature sets converge and the measurable difference on a given site depends more on the host and the theme than on which of these licences you bought. Price, by contrast, varies by a factor of twelve across the table above for the same twenty-five sites. When the thing you are comparing is nearly constant and the thing you are paying varies that much, the purchase decision is a procurement decision, and it should be made on the ladder rather than on the grid.

| Goal | Pick | Priced at |
|:---|:---|:---:|
| One site, pay once | WP Fastest Cache Premium Bronze | $49 one-time |
| One site, most automation claimed | WP Rocket Single | $59.95/yr list |
| Three to five sites | WP-Optimize Premium Business | $99/yr |
| Twenty-five sites, lowest annual | WP-Optimize Premium Enterprise | $194/yr unlimited |
| Twenty-five sites, trial first | FlyingPress Business | $229/yr, 14-day trial |
| Twenty-five sites, no renewal | xSpeed Cache Agency lifetime | $498 list, $249 at launch pricing |
| Any count, on a LiteSpeed server | LiteSpeed Cache | $0 |

**What to do this week:**

1. Count the sites that will still exist in three years and find the rung above that number on each vendor's page, today, because three of these prices were promotional when this was written.
2. Multiply the annual figure by three and add configuration at a rate you would bill a client. If the setup line is larger than the licence line, you are pricing the right things.
3. If you own one site and want to stop thinking about it, WP Fastest Cache Premium at $49 once is the cheapest permanent licence here and it is not ours.
4. If you are on a LiteSpeed server, install LiteSpeed Cache and spend nothing, and read our comparison first to check what your server actually gives you.
5. If you run twenty-five sites and want one payment and one dashboard, xSpeed Cache Agency is $249 at founding-customer pricing with a 14-day money-back guarantee, it covers twenty-five activations with nothing idle, and it is built by the WPDeveloper team at Startise.

Run the numbers on your own portfolio before you take any row here on trust, and tell us in the [xSpeed support forum](https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/xspeed/) which rung your site count actually landed on. The ladders move, and the next person pricing this will want to know.
