# Antigravity + xSpeed: Manage WordPress Caching

> Antigravity is Google's AI coding environment, available as an IDE, a command-line tool and Antigravity 2.0, and with xSpeed Hub added as an MCP server its agent can read cache status, purge, change settings and run speed tests on every WordPress site in your workspace. You add one serverUrl entry, authenticate once, and ask in plain language.

- One entry in mcp_config.json serves Antigravity 2.0, the CLI and the IDE alike
- Unconfigured MCP tools start in Ask mode, and allow rules can be written per tool: mcp(xspeedhub/get_cache_status)
- Every site you connected to the Hub is reachable from the same agent session

## How do I connect Antigravity to xSpeed?

### 1. Put your sites in xSpeed Hub

Sign in at app.xspeedcache.com with Google or email; the Hub is free and has no site cap. Then connect each WordPress site from its own dashboard: click Connect Hub in the xSpeed Cache top bar, then Connect via xSpeed Hub. Each site needs the free xSpeed Cache plugin.

### 2. Add xSpeed Hub to mcp_config.json

Antigravity reads ~/.gemini/config/mcp_config.json for every project, or .agents/mcp_config.json inside one workspace. In the IDE, open the ... menu at the top of the agent side panel, choose MCP Servers, then Manage MCP Servers and View raw config. Remote servers must use the serverUrl field; the older url and httpUrl fields are not supported.

File: `~/.gemini/config/mcp_config.json`

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "xspeedhub": {
      "serverUrl": "https://app.xspeedcache.com/xspeed/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

### 3. Authenticate

Open Agent settings with Cmd+, on macOS or Ctrl+, on Windows and Linux, go to the Customizations tab and click Authenticate next to xspeedhub. Sign in to xSpeed Hub in the browser and approve access, copy the authorization code the page shows, paste it into the settings panel and click Submit. Antigravity keeps the credentials it receives and refreshes them. In the CLI, type /mcp to open the MCP manager and check the server status.

```
Settings → Customizations → Authenticate
```

### 4. Or use a connection token (alternative)

Copy the connection token from Connect AI in the Hub (only the workspace owner sees it) and send it as a header. Keep this entry in the global file, not in a workspace file that you commit.

File: `~/.gemini/config/mcp_config.json`

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "xspeedhub": {
      "serverUrl": "https://app.xspeedcache.com/xspeed/mcp",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Bearer <your connection token>"
      }
    }
  }
}
```

**Authentication:** OAuth sign-in or connection token. Antigravity registers itself with servers that support dynamic client registration. You approve access in the browser, then copy the authorization code it shows and paste it into the settings panel; you never paste a connection token. If you prefer a header, add the token from the Hub's Connect AI page under headers.

**Check it worked:** ask "Use xSpeed Hub to list my sites and tell me which ones have no Redis object cache turned on."

## Does Antigravity ask before it changes my site?

Antigravity runs unconfigured MCP tools in Ask mode, so each call waits for your approval in a card before it executes. Allow rules such as mcp(xspeedhub/get_cache_status) or mcp(xspeedhub/*) let calls through without a prompt, Ask and Deny rules take precedence over Allow, and the Turbo permission preset allows MCP and web actions without asking. When you approve a card you can also edit its target to widen the grant. With Turbo or a broad allow rule, a write reaches the Hub as soon as your connection allows writes. xSpeed Hub has no confirmation step of its own.

xSpeed Hub has no confirmation step of its own. Read tools change nothing on your sites, with one exception to know about: contact_support sends an email to xSpeed support, and a read-only connection can still call it. A write tool (a purge, a settings change, a cache toggle, or a speed test that spends the shared allowance) runs as soon as your connection allows writes. Three things stand between a prompt and a change: your connection's scope, because a read-only connection refuses every write tool (the connection token has a Read-only everywhere switch, and a Viewer member only ever gets read access); your AI client's own tool-approval prompt; and the Hub's instructions to the agent, which tell it to confirm the target site and to ask once before a write that touches every site.

## Example session

```
You: Use xSpeed Hub to preview a safe optimization pass on the docs site. Do not apply it.
  → optimize_site(site: docs, aggressiveness: safe, dry_run: true) [dry run]: preview only: 3 settings would change, nothing applied
Agent: A safe pass would change 3 settings on docs, and the preview applied nothing. Apply it to docs now?
You: Yes, apply it.
  → optimize_site(site: docs, aggressiveness: safe) [changes site]: applied 3 settings; verify_urls returned for the home page and one article
Agent: Applied. The Hub asks me to open the verify URLs before I call this a success, so I will check the home page and the article next.
```

## What is Antigravity?

Antigravity is Google's AI coding environment. It is available as Antigravity 2.0, a command-line tool and an IDE, and its agent can edit code, run commands and call tools on MCP servers that you configure.

MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is how Antigravity reaches services outside your machine. Adding xSpeed Hub as a remote server gives the agent the Hub's caching tools: status, purge, settings, preloader, object cache, Cloudflare and speed tests, for every site in your workspace.

## Why use Antigravity with xSpeed?

- **One config for every Antigravity surface**: The same mcp_config.json format applies to Antigravity 2.0, the CLI and the IDE, so one entry in the global file covers all three.
- **Allow rules written per tool**: The permission syntax names the server and the tool, so you can allow every xSpeed read with one rule and keep each write on Ask.
- **The whole fleet behind one entry**: The Hub fronts every site you connected. Ask about one site by name, or ask a question that spans all of them and read the per-site result.

## Good to know

- Use serverUrl for the Hub address. Antigravity states that the legacy url and httpUrl fields are not supported for remote servers.
- The Turbo permission preset allows MCP and web actions without asking. If you use it, add an Ask rule for the xSpeed write tools. For read-only access, send the connection token with Read-only everywhere on, or sign in as a Viewer member.
- The sign-in ends with a code you paste back into the settings panel, so finish it in a session where you can switch between the browser and the editor.
- A workspace file at .agents/mcp_config.json is meant to live in the project. Keep the connection token out of any file you commit.

## Prompts to try

- With xSpeed Hub, show page cache status and hit ratio for every site, and flag anything under 70%.
- Use xSpeed Hub to purge the shop cache, then start the preloader and report how many URLs it queued.
- Use xSpeed Hub to run a mobile PageSpeed test on the blog and compare it with the stored score history.
- Ask xSpeed Hub to preview what optimize_site would change on docs with a safe pass. Do not apply it.
- Using xSpeed Hub, test whether Redis answers on shop before you turn on the object cache.

## What can Antigravity do with xSpeed?

- [Purge the WordPress cache with Antigravity](https://xspeedcache.com/agent/antigravity/purge-cache/): Clear stale pages after a deploy, an edit or a plugin update, on one site or all of them.
- [Find out why WordPress pages are not cached with Antigravity](https://xspeedcache.com/agent/antigravity/troubleshoot-cache/): Work out why a site misses the cache, serves slow pages or shows a low hit ratio, using read-only checks first.
- [Scan a website for speed problems with Antigravity](https://xspeedcache.com/agent/antigravity/speed-scan/): Get a graded speed report with the fix for every failing check and a link you can share, for your own site or any public URL.
- [Run and track PageSpeed tests with Antigravity](https://xspeedcache.com/agent/antigravity/pagespeed-tests/): Read the PageSpeed scores a site already has, run a new test when something changed, and tell a Lighthouse score from a cache benchmark.
- [Raise a WordPress site's PageSpeed score with Antigravity](https://xspeedcache.com/agent/antigravity/optimize-site/): Preview and apply xSpeed's recommended settings to a site, check the pages still work, and be told plainly what caching cannot fix.

## Frequently asked questions

### How do I add xSpeed Hub to Antigravity?

Add an xspeedhub entry with a serverUrl of https://app.xspeedcache.com/xspeed/mcp to mcp_config.json, either the global file at ~/.gemini/config/mcp_config.json or .agents/mcp_config.json in a workspace. Then open Agent settings, go to Customizations and click Authenticate next to the server.

### Do I need an API key?

No. Antigravity handles OAuth automatically for servers that support dynamic client registration, and xSpeed Hub does. You approve access in the browser and paste the authorization code it shows into the settings panel. If you prefer a header, the workspace owner can copy the connection token from the Hub's Connect AI page.

### Will Antigravity change my site without asking?

By default it asks. Unconfigured MCP tools run in Ask mode and wait for your approval. The Hub has no confirmation step of its own, so an allow rule or the Turbo preset lets a write run without a prompt. Allow reads, keep writes on Ask. For read-only access, send the connection token with Read-only everywhere on, or sign in as a Viewer member.

### Which tools does Antigravity get from xSpeed Hub?

The 29 tools of the xSpeed Hub MCP server. Sixteen only read. Thirteen change a site or spend the shared speed-test allowance. In allow rules you name them as mcp(xspeedhub/tool), for example mcp(xspeedhub/purge_cache). To hide a tool from the model, list it in disabledTools on the server entry.

### Why does the config use serverUrl instead of url?

Antigravity requires the serverUrl field for remote servers, whether they use streamable HTTP, SSE or WebSocket, and says the older url and httpUrl fields are not supported. An entry that uses url is not supported.

### Does it work in the CLI and the IDE?

Yes. The documentation applies the same mcp_config.json format to Antigravity 2.0, the CLI and the IDE. In the CLI, type /mcp to open the MCP manager and see server status.

### Can I use Antigravity with one site and no Hub?

Yes. The xSpeed Cache plugin has its own MCP server at your-site.com/xspeed/mcp, and you add it as another serverUrl entry. The Hub is the better fit once you have more than one site.

### How do I disconnect it?

Set disabled to true on the entry or delete it from mcp_config.json. In Antigravity 2.0 you can also use the toggle or trash icon in Settings, Customizations. Rotating or disconnecting the connection token in the Hub revokes only clients that send that token, so it does not end an OAuth sign-in; that is removed in Antigravity.
